Summary

DJB My Water Bill Info & Guide is an independent guide that helps you find and understand Delhi Jal Board water bill information. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by the Delhi Jal Board, the Government of NCT of Delhi, or any other public authority.

The app is offered as a freemium, advertising-supported service. It collects limited technical information automatically (such as your IP address, device type and which screens you open) together with your device's advertising identifier, and your email address if you provide one. Ads are served through Google AdMob, which also mediates demand from Meta Audience Network and Unity Ads. We do not sell your personal data, and the app takes no payments.

1. Who we are and what this policy covers

DJB My Water Bill Info & Guide is published by Ninely Tech ("we", "us", "our"), an independent software studio. For the purposes of the GDPR we are the data controller for this app, and under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 we are the data fiduciary.

This policy covers the Android application distributed through Google Play under the package identifier inc.pragat.djb_payment_guide. The app is provided as a freemium service and on an "as is" basis.

By installing and using the app you accept this policy. If you do not agree with it, please uninstall the app.

2. Information we collect

Collected automatically. When you download and use the app, the following is collected:

  • your device's Internet Protocol (IP) address;
  • which screens of the app you visit, the date and time of your visit, and how long you spend on them;
  • the total time you spend in the app;
  • the operating system and device model you are using;
  • your device's advertising identifier (GAID) and your App Set ID, a separate identifier Android scopes to this developer's apps, both used to serve ads and to detect ad fraud;
  • your connection type and mobile carrier, your screen size and resolution, your language and region settings, and the package name and version of this app, all passed to the advertising SDKs so they can select and render an ad that fits;
  • which ads you were shown, how long they were on screen and which ones you tapped;
  • crash diagnostics, including device state at the moment of a crash.

Provided by you. If you contact us or use a feature that requires it, we collect your email address. This is optional; the guide works without it.

The app does not collect precise location information about your device, and does not read your contacts, messages or photos. It does not ask for your water account credentials.

3. How we use information

We use the information described above to:

  • operate, maintain and improve the app;
  • understand in aggregate which guides and features are used, so we know what to work on;
  • diagnose and fix crashes and other faults;
  • display advertising, which is what funds the free tier of the app;
  • respond to you and send required notices about the app where necessary.

If you have given us your email address, we may occasionally contact you about the app. We will only send you promotional messages where you have consented to receive them or the law otherwise permits it, and every such message includes a way to unsubscribe.

We do not sell your personal data.

4. Permissions

The app requests network access, which it needs to load content and to serve advertising. It does not request precise location, contacts, camera, microphone, SMS or phone permissions.

Where a future version requires an additional permission, it will be listed here and on the Play Store listing before it ships.

5. Third-party services and processors

The app uses the following third-party services, each of which handles data under its own privacy policy:

Service Role Policy
Google Play Services Core platform services the app relies on to run on Android. google.com
Google AdMob Serves the advertising that funds the free tier, using your advertising ID (GAID), App Set ID, IP address and the approximate location inferred from it, connection type and carrier, device model, OS version, screen size, language, app version, and ad interaction and fraud-detection data. support.google.com
Meta Audience Network Also serves advertising in the free tier, using the same categories of data: your advertising ID, IP address and inferred coarse location, device and network details, and your ad interactions. Meta may combine this with information it already holds about you if you use Facebook or Instagram. facebook.com
Unity Ads Serves advertising in the free tier when AdMob mediation awards it a slot, using the same categories of data: your advertising ID, IP address and inferred coarse location, device and network details, and your ad interactions. unity.com
Google Analytics for Firebase Aggregate usage analytics. firebase.google.com
Firebase Crashlytics Crash and stability reporting. firebase.google.com

These providers act as our processors for analytics and crash reporting, and may store and process data in data centres outside your country. Where personal data is transferred internationally, that transfer relies on the safeguards Google offers under its terms, including the European Commission's standard contractual clauses where applicable.

6. Advertising and your choices

The free tier of the app is funded by advertising. Google AdMob is the advertising platform in the app, and it also acts as the mediation layer: for each ad slot it runs an auction and either fills the slot itself or hands it to a mediated partner network. The mediated partners are Meta Audience Network and Unity Ads. Whichever network wins a given slot, its SDK renders that ad inside the app and receives the data it needs to do so.

To select ads, limit how often you see the same one, render them at the right size and measure performance, these networks may use your advertising ID and App Set ID, your IP address and the approximate location inferred from it, your device model, operating system version, screen size, language, connection type and carrier, and your ad interactions. Depending on your settings and region, those ads may be personalised to your inferred interests. Nothing you enter in this app - your KNO, your bill details or your email address - is ever passed to any of the advertising SDKs.

The device-level controls below apply to all three networks, because each of them reads the same Android advertising ID:

  • Android 12 and later - Settings → Google → All services → Ads → Delete advertising ID.
  • Android 11 and earlier - Settings → Google → Ads → Opt out of Ads Personalisation.
  • Manage preferences online at adssettings.google.com.

Opting out does not remove ads; it means the ads you see are no longer personalised.

Deleting the advertising ID does not remove your App Set ID, which Android keeps for analytics and fraud prevention across this developer's apps. That identifier is reset when you uninstall every app from this developer on the device.

7. Bill information and payments

The app helps you locate and understand water bill information published by the Delhi Jal Board. Any figures it surfaces originate from the Board's own systems, not from us. We do not alter that information and we cannot correct it - for disputes or corrections, use the Board's official support channels.

The app contains no payment gateway and never asks for card, UPI or netbanking details. If you want to pay a bill, do so through the Delhi Jal Board's own official payment channels. We do not receive, process or store payment information of any kind.

8. When we may disclose information

Beyond the processors listed in section 5, we may disclose information:

  • as required by law, such as to comply with a subpoena, court order or similar legal process;
  • where we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, protect your safety or the safety of others, investigate fraud, or respond to a lawful government request;
  • to trusted service providers who work on our behalf, have no independent right to use the information, and are bound to handle it consistently with this policy.

Only aggregated or anonymised usage data is transmitted for the purpose of improving the app.

9. Data retention and deletion

  • Data you provided - retained for as long as you use the app and for a reasonable period afterwards. Email us to have it deleted and we will action the request within 30 days.
  • Analytics data - retained by Google Firebase under Google's retention settings, and reported to us only in aggregate.
  • Stop all collection - uninstalling the app ends any further collection, using the standard uninstall process on your device or through Google Play.

10. Security

We care about the confidentiality of your information and maintain physical, electronic and procedural safeguards over the data we process. Data you provide is held in Google-operated infrastructure, protected by that platform's access controls and encryption in transit and at rest.

No method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we become aware of a breach affecting your personal data, we will notify you and the relevant authority where the law requires it.

11. Children's privacy

The app is a household utility tool intended for adults responsible for water bills. It is not directed at anyone under 13, we do not knowingly solicit data from or market to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.

If we discover that a child under 13 has provided personal information, we will delete it from our systems promptly. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, contact us at the address in section 14 so we can take the necessary action.

12. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you have rights over your personal data under laws including the EU and UK GDPR, the California CCPA/CPRA, and India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023:

  • Access - ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correction - ask us to correct data that is inaccurate or incomplete. Bill data itself must be corrected by the Delhi Jal Board.
  • Erasure - ask us to delete the data we hold about you.
  • Portability - ask for your data in a machine-readable form.
  • Objection and restriction - object to or ask us to restrict particular processing, including direct marketing, which you can refuse at any time.
  • Opt out of personalised advertising - see section 6.
  • No sale of personal information - we do not sell your personal data.

To exercise any of these, email us at the address in section 14. We do not charge for this and we will not discriminate against you for asking. Because most technical data is collected by Google, Meta and Unity rather than by us, some requests are best directed to those providers through their own privacy tools. You also retain the right to complain to your local supervisory authority.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, the revised policy will be posted on this page and the "Last updated" date above will change, and the Play Store listing's Data Safety section will be updated to match. Please review this page periodically, as continued use of the app after a change means you accept the revised policy.
