Summary
Nothing Inspired Widgets helps you customize your Android home screen with clean, minimal widgets. Nearly everything the app does - reading your steps, your screen time, your clipboard clips, your compass heading and your currently playing media - happens directly on your device and is never sent anywhere. We do not track your personal activity, we do not run intrusive trackers, and we never sell your data.
The app does use the internet for three small, optional things: showing anonymous community “like” counts on widgets, letting you send us a widget idea, and checking for new widgets. Those are handled by Google Firebase and are described in full in section 6.
| Data | Why it is handled | Leaves your device |
|---|---|---|
| Step count, distance & calories | Read from your phone's built-in step sensor to show today's totals on the Step Counter widget. | No |
| Screen-on time | Calculated from Android's usage-access data to show your total screen-on time for the day on the Screen Time widget. | No |
| Clipboard clips | Text you copy or type into the Clipboard widget, kept handy for quick reuse. | No |
| Compass heading | Read from your device's orientation sensor to point the Compass widget North. | No |
| Now-playing track & playback controls | Shown and controlled through the Music widget, for whatever app is currently playing media on your device. | No |
| Widget likes | An anonymous heart count so the community can see which widgets are popular. | Yes - Google Firebase (anonymous) |
| Widget requests you submit | The idea or feedback you choose to send us. | Yes - Google Firebase |
| Account or personal identifiers | Not collected. The app has no sign-up or login. | Not collected |
1. Who we are and what this policy covers
Nothing Inspired Widgets is published by Pragat Inc ("we", "us", "our"), an independent software studio. For the purposes of the GDPR we are the data controller for this app, and under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 we are the data fiduciary.
This policy covers the Nothing Inspired Widgets Android
application distributed through Google Play under the package
identifier com.greenleaf.nothingwidgets. It does not cover
Google Play itself, or any app whose playback or notification
information is shown inside a widget.
By installing and using the app you accept this policy. If you do not agree with it, please uninstall the app.
2. Information we collect
No account, no sign-in. The app does not ask you to register or log in. We do not receive your name, email address or any other directly identifying information.
We read the following on-device information to power specific widgets:
- step count, distance and calorie estimates from your phone's step sensor;
- your total screen-on time for the day;
- text you type or copy into the Clipboard widget;
- your device's orientation, to point the compass;
- the title, artist and playback state of whatever media is currently playing, so the Music widget can show and control it.
None of the above is transmitted to us or to anyone else it is read, processed and displayed entirely on your device. See section 5 for how each widget uses it.
What we do not collect. We do not collect your contacts, precise or approximate location, messages, photos or files, microphone audio, SMS content, or call logs.
3. How we use information
We use the on-device data described above only to calculate and display the numbers and status shown on each widget, and to remember your widget layout and preferences. We use the data handled through Firebase only to tally anonymous widget likes, to receive the widget requests you choose to send, and to let the app check whether new widgets are available.
We do not sell your data, we do not build advertising profiles, and the app contains no advertising SDK.
4. Permissions
We only ask for a permission when a specific widget needs it to function:
| Permission | Why it is needed |
|---|---|
| Physical Activity | Needed only for the Step Counter widget, so it can read your phone's step sensor and count your steps. |
| Usage Access | A special permission you grant in system settings, needed only for the Screen Time widget to calculate your total screen-on duration for the day. The app cannot see which individual apps you used or any content within them - only the aggregate screen-on time. |
| Camera (flashlight only) | Used strictly to turn your phone's torch on or off from the Flashlight quick-settings tile. The app never activates the camera preview and never takes photos or records video. |
| Bluetooth | Lets you turn Bluetooth on or off with a single tap from the Bluetooth quick-settings tile. |
| Internet Access | Used only to show anonymous community like counts, to send a widget request you choose to submit, and to check for new widgets. See section 6. |
The app does not request contacts, precise location, microphone, SMS or phone-state permissions.
5. The widgets and the device data they use
- Step Counter / Pedometer - reads your phone's built-in step sensor to display your daily steps, distance and calories on your home screen. This data is calculated and shown on your device and is never sent to the cloud.
- Screen Time Widget - shows your total screen-on time for the day. We never see which apps you use, your messages, or your browsing history.
- Clipboard Widget - keeps a few quick notes or copied text clips handy on your home screen. All clips stay private in app storage on your device.
- Compass Widget - uses your device's orientation sensor to point North. No location data is collected.
- Music Widget - shows playback information and controls for whatever media is currently playing on your device.
- Flashlight & Bluetooth tiles - let you toggle your torch or Bluetooth radio on or off from your home screen, with no data collection involved.
6. Cloud services: likes, requests and updates
We use Google Firebase for exactly three things, and nothing else:
- Community likes - when you tap the heart on a widget, an anonymous like count is incremented in Firebase. It is not linked to your name, email or any account, because the app has none.
- Widget requests - if you use the request form to suggest a widget, the text you write is sent to Firebase so our team can read it and consider it for a future release. Please do not include personal details you would rather we did not hold.
- App updates - the app checks Firebase to see whether new widgets have been added, so it can notify you inside the app. This check does not transmit personal information.
None of this is used for advertising, profiling or tracking, and the app contains no analytics or ad SDK.
7. Third-party services and processors
Nothing Inspired Widgets uses the following third-party services, each of which handles data under its own privacy policy:
| Service | Role | Policy |
|---|---|---|
| Google Firebase | Stores anonymous widget like counts, receives the widget requests you submit, and lets the app check for new widgets. | firebase.google.com |
| Google Play | Distribution and installation of the app. | policies.google.com |
The app contains no analytics, advertising, crash-reporting or social SDKs beyond the Firebase usage described above.
8. Data retention and deletion
Your widget settings, step counts, screen-time figures and clipboard notes are saved on your phone only, so you can delete everything at any time by clearing the app's cache/data in Android Settings or by uninstalling the app.
Widget like counts are anonymous aggregate numbers that cannot be traced back to you, so there is nothing tied to you for us to delete. If you want a specific widget request you sent removed, email us at the address in section 13 and we will remove it.
9. Security
Your widget data lives in app-private storage on your device that other apps cannot read. Community likes and widget requests sent to Firebase are held in Google-operated infrastructure, protected by that platform's access controls and encryption in transit and at rest.
No security measure is absolute. A rooted or compromised device, or malware with elevated privileges, can undermine these protections, and we recommend keeping your device's screen lock and system updates enabled.
10. Children's privacy
Nothing Inspired Widgets is not directed at children under 13 and is not used to solicit data from or market to children. The app collects no personal information from anyone, so we hold no children's data and have nothing to delete.
If you believe a child has submitted a widget request that contains personal information, contact us at the address in section 13 and we will remove it.
11. Your rights
Privacy laws including the EU and UK GDPR, the California CCPA/CPRA, and India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 give you rights to access, correct, export and delete personal data that an organisation holds about you, and to know whether it is sold or shared.
We hold no personal data about you and we do not sell or share personal information. Widget requests you have sent us can be deleted on request, and anonymous like counts cannot be connected to you in the first place. You may still contact us with any question, and you retain the right to complain to your local supervisory authority.
12. Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated from time to time. When it changes we will post the revised policy on this page and update the "Last updated" date above. Any change that would involve collecting or transmitting new kinds of data would be described here before it takes effect, and the Play Store listing's Data Safety section would be updated accordingly. Please review this page periodically.
